Wil Campa Blows the Roof Off Yoshi's
Next Gig is at San José Jazz - 8-10
Wil Campa y su Gran Unión really tore it up at Yoshi's last weekend. Here's Tom Ehrlich's full gallery. It was a combination of years of rehearsing together, excellent vocal and brass intonation and phrasing, really professional arrangements and ANDRÉS MIRANDA - a truly amazing conguero with a groove that you could drive a truck through. The band will be in and around the Bay Area until their performance at the SJ Jazz a week from Friday. Then it's on to the Conga Room in LA on the 11th, Seattle the 24th and NY's SOB's the 31st. If you're in the market to take a lesson from one of these monsters, drop me an email and I'll try to hook you up. The San José festival also features the Bay Area's own Team Bahía on Sunday. Book News: Any week now my book for non-musicians and complete beginners will be done, knock on wood. [Kevin Moore]

Well, thanks to Michelle White, here's a taste from a live concert in Denmark earlier this year...

Wil Campa y su Gran Unión [UPDATE 2X]
Friday & Saturday at Yoshi's SF
Saturday Updates: Yikes - this band is ridiculously tight - they make even the best Cuban bands sound unrehearsed. And you really have to see Negrón on congas. Back tonight for another two shows. Check for Tom's photos soon. [Kevin Moore]
Update 2: Dany Lozada at Shango in Patterson NJ TONIGHT (862 600 1958):
Original Post: Here they are at Stern Grove earlier this summer. Click here for tickets.
Second Helping: Los Hermanos Arango Live at Berklee
In February 2012, Los Hermanos Arango appeared live at the Berklee Performance Center in a killer concert that was streamed globally on Berklee's website. For those of you who missed that as well as those who saw it but want a second helping, the Berklee Interdisciplanary Arts Institute's YouTube Channel later posted five video clips from that concert. This one, El Barracon, is a must-see...
