Cuba based rap duo, Zona Franka, blends traditional rhythms with the grit and swagger of hip-hop and rap vocal phrasings. Their clever shout choruses create instant tropical dance classics using their unique self-titled "changui con flow" style.

SPECIAL NOTES: It's somewhat misleading to show the changes from Piano Tumbao 1 to Piano Tumbao 2 as bold red subsections because the two are somewhat interchangeable. The harmonic progression never changes, so it would be a bit more logical to analyze it as one Tumbao with 2 piano variations. Piano Tumbao 1 has a very cool way of going into the bloque and the main importance of Tumbao 2 is that it provides a good way to get out of the bloque. What the piano plays behind the bloque itself is amazing!! See the article "Conversations in Timba" for a detailed analysis of the piano part. So the bloque has to be followed by Tumbao 2, and sounds best coming after Tumbao 1, but note that the final bloque comes after Tumbao 2, breaking this pattern. Note that on the MIDI version in the "Anatomy" article that Tirso actually does conclude with Tumbao 1 before the bloque. The only live version we have fades out before the end. (you can hear that in the main article on "Charanguero Mayor"). Another fascinating aspect of that live performance is the way the band segues into "Tema" from "Charanguéate". They're in the same key and the final piano tumbao of "Charanguéate" is almost identical to the second tumbao of "Tema".
