"Manolín - El Médico De La Salsa - one of the most awaited salsa artists in France - once again an incredible concert! No surprise, Manolín and his prodigious musicians (to only name few of them: the fabulous Alexander Abreu, Ivan "Melon" Gonzalez, Joel Dominguez, etc. ) delivered the best of their music & talents to the French fans with a fantastic playlist! No more words to express such a brilliant concert, just glance at the concert photos and the concert report (in French).

Manolín misses Cuba, the French fans already miss him, we all look forward to seeing him more often in France!

Playlist: El puente (intro), Es Que Me La Llevo, La Vida No Es Tan Tan, Ellas Son Las Que Son, Y No Lo Comentes, Somos Lo Que Hay, El Que Este Que Tumbe, Me Pase De Copas, Pegaito, De tarea pa' la casa..."

Adalberto Álvarez in France

Our friends at Fiesta Cubana send us the following short concert report.

Adalberto Álvarez © Indochino for www.fiestacubana.net

Adalberto Alvarez Y Su Son and the french fans: a love story.
This is the second concert within a year and another great concert, I would say a friendly concert with such good moments of vibes and feelings between the band and the audience. Adalberto Alvarez "Caballero del Son" is not only the band leader but it is also a showman.

Playlist: "Linda Habanera", "Para bailar Casino", "Ella es una abusadora ", "Bailar el toca-toca", "Tumba, timbal y bongó ", "Chocolate" and the must have "Y que tu quieres que te den"..., etc

Cuban-French Relations

Considerably more promising than the current state of affairs between Cuba and the USA, Cuba and France have apparently kept their long history of mutual respect alive today. France, epicenter of occidental thought, had already been a fluctuating influence throughout Cuban musical history since Colonization took place in the hands of Spain. Not only can we trace French contributions in some of the island's most representative musical styles like the son, the danzón or the habanera, a crucial aspect of music appreciation in Cuba is precisely due to the admiration pre-independance Cubans had for French society during the XVIII and XIX centuries. France, on the other hand, has always been deeply attracted to Cuba's rich, diverse musical universe, and is one of the few countries where Timba is recognized, together with other contemporary endeavors of modern-day Cuba that have largely been ignored elsewhere.

Here's a list for the summer:

Cuban Saturday Nights at «La Galerie», Paris

Issac, Muñequitos, Adalberto, NG, Paulito... an array of Cuban household names every Saturday night starting July 3rd.

On June 12 it's Van Van at Lyon (Africando will open the show) - 20 euros starting at 9 pm.

The Timba night is most definitely Saturday, June 19th. Cuban pop culture with Dayron & su Boom. Leading Timba female singer

Sunday June 20th: "Maraca" and Daniela Mercury

July 2004
