Timba Playalongs

Hello, I just want to suggest that a good idea for a next project after the awesome Tomas Cruz books and Beyond Salsa Piano books would be playalong package that allows musicians to actually put those lessons into practice. I am a percussionist and serious Timba fan but sadly finding Timba musicians where I live isn’t easy. It can be frustrating trying to throw the Timba flavor into a song only to have to tone it down for a bassist, pianist, or other percussionist who doesn’t get it or just isn’t into it. A playalong could go a long way toward helping people to work on their chops and feel. Just please, please don’t make a playalong just for the melodic instruments, we percussionists need some love too and I could practice for hours to a nice selection of timba montunos and bass tumbaos. Some full on song charts would be great as well to practice gear changes and bloques. Although I practice to my favorite timba recordings already, not having the percussion there would force me to have to be dead on and to focus on my weaknesses. Anyway, just an idea from a frustrated Timbero, thank you. :) |

Hi Hermann – This is exactly what I’ve been working on since Volume 8 if Beyond Salsa Piano. It will be called “Beyond Salsa Percussion” and every exercise will have five “music-minus-one” recordings – for pianist, bassist, and each of the three percussionists. |
