SpanishEnglishGuajira Mas Guajira - (Tumi) Released May 2016

CD Review: Guajira Mas Guajira by Eliades Ochoa & Alma Latina (Tumi 2016)
Review by Bill Tilford, all rights reserved

Renowned guitarist/singer/songwriter/bandleader Eliades Ochoa teams with his sister, María Ochoa, herself a prolific singer/songwriter, and the group Alma Latina in a very pleasant project that features Eliades on the armónico, a seven string hybrid of the guitar and the tres with a very distinct sound.   The instrument was first developed by Compay Segundo.  Musically the centerpiece of the album is the Guajira, but there are also elements of Changȕí, Rumba, Soca, and just a hint of Ska in some of the songs.   The bilingual  liner notes are mostly excellent (the credits for the individual artists could have been a little clearer) and include the Spanish lyrics to the songs along with some history.

Here is a "Making of" video from the label in Spanish with English subtitles:

1. Brisa Mañanera
2. Que Sigan Sonando Las Campanas
3. Yo Soy el Punto Cubano
4. El Reto
5. Me Voy Pal Monte
6. Su Aliento Me Falta
7. El Quichi, Quicha
8. Oye Ya
9.  Como Yo Te Quiero
10. Rumberito Baila
11.  Que Viva La Alegria
12. Yo Sigo Amando
13. Ya Esta El Café
