Cuba based rap duo, Zona Franka, blends traditional rhythms with the grit and swagger of hip-hop and rap vocal phrasings. Their clever shout choruses create instant tropical dance classics using their unique self-titled "changui con flow" style.

cuban music, musica cubanaThe lead trumpeter of Manolín's "Chamacos" is also an excellent jazz soloist. He moved to Miami along with most of the rest of the group in 1999. I was amazed to learn that he's the son of the Charanga Habanera trumpeter, Leonel Polledo, although Manolín's band came to prominence on the Timba scene only a few years after Charanga Habanera. His brother, Leonel Polledo Llorents is trombonist with Maykel Blanco y Salsa Mayor. [Kevin Moore]
