CHICAGO LATIN JAZZ FEST THIS WEEKEND

The Chicago Latin Jazz Festival takes place July 12-14 this year. Two special highlights are Melvis Santa and Ashedi, who open the Festival in Humboldt Park, and Jane Bunnett and Maqueque, who close it at Navy Pier. The full schedule is as follows:

The following Cuban music events are coming up in Chicago:

Monday, June 24 at 6:30-8:30pm:
Chucho Valdés & Jazz Batá at Millennium Park
201 E. Randolph Street, Chicago, Illinois

This outdoor concert is free and is in support of the recent album Jazz Batá 2, the batá being the double-headed drums used in sacred (and in more recent times, secular) music in Cuba. Fareed Haque & Casseus also perform.

ENGLISH: The first International Timba Festival will take place in Havana from August 2-4, 2019. Samuel Formell is the artistic director, and an impressive roster of Timba bands will participate.
