Cuba based rap duo, Zona Franka, blends traditional rhythms with the grit and swagger of hip-hop and rap vocal phrasings. Their clever shout choruses create instant tropical dance classics using their unique self-titled "changui con flow" style.

¡escúchala! Bamboleo (de ñño): Recapacita

2004 Interview with Kevin Moore

Interview with Bruce Ishikawa and María Rodríguez

When Haila Mompié left Bamboleo, she was replaced briefly by María Gutiérrez, and then by Yordamis Megret, who stayed with the group until 2002 when she moved to Miami, and then to New York. Yordamis and founding member Vannia Borges had a stage chemistry that has kept Bamboleo among the most popular Timba groups, both in Cuba and around the world. In 2004, she has formed a new group in New York with other transplanted Cubans.

Yordamis got her start as with the prestigious Tropicana stage show before moving on to PG, one of El Tosco's side projects. Click here for an excerpt of one of her Bamboleo feature numbers, Recapacita. [Kevin Moore]
