”El Yera”, Serguei Yera Madera - Born in Havana in 1989, El Yera is a Cuban singer and performer currently based between Stockholm, Sweden, and Barcelona, Spain.
El Yera began his professional career at the age of 21, joining the renowned Cuban orchestra Elito Revé y Su Charangón as a lead vocalist. He remained with the orchestra for eight years, an extraordinary achievement for an artist who had never attended a music school or performed with another band before joining La Revé.
His arrival in such a prestigious orchestra quickly made him a remarkable figure in Cuban music. Through his natural talent, distinctive vocal character, and powerful stage presence, El Yera earned recognition and affection from audiences both in Cuba and internationally.
An entirely empirical artist, El Yera developed his musical identity through experience rather than formal training. His unmistakable voice and individual style set him apart from other Cuban music artists, combining authenticity, character, and the expressive energy that defines the Cuban musical tradition.
Besides being a timba musician, he also masters urban genres like reggaeton and reparto and has an impressive talent for improvising and rapping. He has collaborated with some of the biggest names in Cuban music, including Gente de Zona, Gilberto Santa Rosa, El Micha, Yomil & Dany, Harryson, El Enviado, Norlam, Lobo Malo, Wow Pupy, El Kaneka, Un Titico and Manana Club.

Currently based between Sweden and Spain, El Yera has continued to build his career as a successful solo artist, releasing albums and EPs that explore a wide range of Latin music genres, including salsa, timba, reparto, reggaeton, bachata, merengue, and cumbia.
Among his best-known tracks are “Ni Santa Ni Diabla,” “El Secreto,” “La Puti Vuelta,” and “El Que Falló.” His artistic versatility and distinctive vocal style have earned him a devoted and diverse audience.
El Yera also leads his own band, Shangó Kings, whose performances combine live musicianship with a dynamic stage show featuring dancers. In addition to his solo work, he occasionally performs as lead singer with the French-based Cuban orchestra Aisar y su Expresso de Cuba. He also continues to collaborate with Elito Revé y Su Charangón (La Revé), which is celebrating its 70th anniversary with a special tour this year (2026).

Despite being a relatively young artist, El Yera has established himself as a distinctive voice in contemporary Cuban music and as one of the notable timba vocalists of his generation. His journey from an entirely self-taught singer to an internationally active performer reflects both his natural talent and his enduring connection to the Cuban musical tradition.
