Cuba based rap duo, Zona Franka, blends traditional rhythms with the grit and swagger of hip-hop and rap vocal phrasings. Their clever shout choruses create instant tropical dance classics using their unique self-titled "changui con flow" style.

Chicago, Your Fix is Here

Hector Silveira steps up with Timba, Rumba and more

Chicago, we were at Hector's rehearsal this afternoon.  Hector is originally from Camaguey, Cuba, and is now based in Chicago.  The band was blowing the doors off the rehearsal space today - this IS the real thing.  Miss this for any reason other than illness, work, out of town or death, and your license to publicly complain about any aspect of the local concert scene will be officially revoked. For more details, see our Report From Chicago section for October 28, 2012.

Tiempo Libre Returns To The Midwest

Special Show in Elgin, Illinois October 20, 2012

One of our favorite US-based bands, Tiempo Libre, returns to the Midwest on October 20th, 2012 at 8pm in Elgin, Illinois for a performance with the Elgin Symphony plus a separate TImba dance set by themselves.  It looks like this may be as close as they get to Chicago this fall, so catch them while you can!  Click here for their webpage for the event!
