Cuba based rap duo, Zona Franka, blends traditional rhythms with the grit and swagger of hip-hop and rap vocal phrasings. Their clever shout choruses create instant tropical dance classics using their unique self-titled "changui con flow" style.

Calixto-Yosmel-Josiel at Yoshi's Oakland Tonight

AC Jazz Project - Sounds Like Timba to Me

Yoshi's Oakland has finally booked a Cuban act again and it's a great one - AC Jazz Project (can we do something about these generic band names?) - with Josiel and Yosmel, who have been tearing it up with everyone since staying in the US after the Maraca tour, plus Calixto Oviedo and a  highly-touted pianist named Fermín Sinfontes. It's an early show at 7:30 tonight, Aug. 30. See you there.

In other news, what are they putting in water in Sweden?
