I wouldn't go so far as to call Jorge Luis Pacheco a secret - he has been recognized at numerous jazz festivals around the world, collaborated with various jazz greats in Cuba, the US and beyond and has over 7 fine albums under his belt. But coming as he does from a country that has produced a vast horde of world-class pianists, not everyone gets to be a household word.  That being said, he is very much worth hearing and is doing a US tour during September beginning in Chicago but also including dates around the country including a few on the west coast.

Walfredo was a hugely important figure in the Bay Area in the later decades of his life and a crucial friend and advisor to all of us at timba.com. He'll be sorely missed.
